Our role is to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of patients, service users and the public by raising standards of regulation and registration of people working in health and care. We are a small, independent body, accountable to the UK Parliament. We are the oversight body for 10 statutory regulators of professionals working in the health and social care sector and we manage an Accredited Registers programme for roles that are not statutorily regulated.

The PSA is now looking to appoint a Devolved Administration Board Member for Wales/Cymru. This is a unique and influential role in the high-profile field of health and social care and our new Board Member will join the PSA at an interesting time with the implementation of reform. You will be part of a team working with the governments and administrations across the United Kingdom, with the statutory regulators and non-statutory registers we oversee, with representatives of highly diverse patient and professional groups, and with other stakeholders.

It is essential that candidates live and work in Wales/Cymru. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to regulation, health and health regulation in Wales. They must have a demonstrable commitment to public service and the protection of patients and the public. Successful candidates would be expected to have one or more of the desirable criteria. Given our role overseeing the 10 statutory regulators and Accredited Registers, applicants are not eligible for this role if they have ever been registered with any of the 10 statutory registers or the Accredited Registers.
