Standards of Good Regulation

12 Feb 2019

We use our Standards of Good Regulation as the basis of our regulator reviews. Each year we check how well each regulator is meeting them and publish what we find in a performance review report

The judgements we make against each Standard incorporate a range of evidence to form an overall picture of performance. Meeting a Standard means that we are satisfied that a regulator is performing well in that area. It does not mean there is no room for improvement. Similarly, finding that a regulator has met all of the Standards does not mean perfection. Rather, it signifies good performance in the 18 areas we assess.

Help us shape our Standards of Good Regulation

We've launched a consultation to help us shape our future Standards for both regulators and Accredited Registers. We're asking for feedback and input to help shape how regulators and Accredited Registers are assessed in the future. It's also a chance to suggest areas that should be looked at which are not currently covered by the Standards.
