A follow-up to our consultation earlier in 2021 to look at refining our regulator review process and getting further feedback
What is this consultation about?
In December 2020, we launched a consultation to check whether the approach we take to reviewing the regulators needed a refresh. We conducted a consultation between December 2020 and March 2021. You can read the report on the outcome of that consultation in English or in Welsh.
We now want to refine this process further and get feedback on how we are proposing to take our regulator reviews forward, following our earlier conversation and its outcome.
In this consultation, we are seeking feedback on three key areas:
- Moving from an annual process to one where we look in detail periodically, with ongoing monitoring in between to maintain our oversight
- Our proposals for setting this period as a three-year cycle
- The factors we will consider when determining whether we need to look in more depth at a regulator’s performance.
We expect that these proposals will enable us to more effectively focus our resources on areas where we identify risks to public protection.
How to respond
You can find out more about the consultation from our dedicated webpage. The deadline for responding is 21 December 2021. You can also download the pdf in English and there is a summary of questions (Welsh versions of both these documents will be available shortly). Please submit your response to PRconsultation@professionalstandards.org.uk.
