Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine meets Accredited Registers ‘public interest test’

Today, we have published our report on the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine's (ATCM) application for an assessment against Standard One of our Standards for Accredited Registers. Also known as ‘the public interest test’, Standard One considers whether the benefits of activities of the roles registered by the ATCM are likely to outweigh the risks. 

We can make a provisional assessment against Standard One to help determine whether a Register falls within the scope of the Accredited Registers programme, ahead of submitting a full application.

We found that the ATCM provisionally met Standard One, although we recommended some areas to consider before a full application for accreditation. Our report provides further information.

The ATCM registers practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Chinese therapeutic massage (called tuina or Tui Na in Chinese).
