Occupational hygiene describes the prevention of ill-health in the workplace by managing health risks, for example by controlling worker exposure to harmful substances.
The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) is the Chartered Society for Worker Health Protection. It is host to the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, the professional standards body for occupational hygienists. Occupational hygienists are specialists deemed competent to ensure protection of people from all forms of occupational disease, in line with Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
