We commissioned research to explore public and professional views towards dishonest behaviour by health and care professionals. The report was published in June 2016.

Summary

This research, carried out by independent research agency Policis, looks at public and professional attitudes towards dishonest behaviour by health and care professionals.

The researchers used qualitative methods to explore responses to a number of scenarios based on real-life cases of professional dishonesty.

We commissioned this project to explore public and professional views on these types of cases. In many of the decisions about practitioners that we review and go on to appeal, we find that dishonesty has not been properly taken into account.
